James A. Peters
Researcher of the Rod Phenomena

Professional Biography:

40 years old, born in Denver, Colorado. He has a strong physical science background. James attended Texas A&M University as a geology major. After marrying and becoming a father, James joined the Medical Corps of the US Army as a Preventive Medicine Specialist whose mission is the prevention of disease and non-battle-related injuries (DNBI). Completed training at the top of his class as Honor Graduate. Courses included entomological training for the capture, identification and control of disease-carrying and venomous arthropods. Stationed at Fort Lewis, WA, he completed the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) Warfare course as the enlisted Honor Graduate and became the NBC non-commissioned-officer (NCO) for his unit; the 105th Medical Detachment, 62nd Medical Group. Supported operations of the 1990 Team Spirit training maneuvers in Korea before he left active duty to be a single Dad for his daughter after his split with his wife.

While pursuing a childhood dream of getting his private pilot license, James was called back to active duty for Desert Shield. He eventually was assigned to the Army Environmental Health Agency (AEHA) to support their Engineering Division as an Engineering Technician and an Industrial Hygiene Technician. Knowledge of biology, chemistry and entomology impressed the boss enough that he was asked to apply for a full time position after Desert Storm was over. After winning a competitive application for the position, he started as a Department of the Army Civilian in June of 1991. Responsibilities included following the protocols for the scientific collection of environmental samples whose analysis had to stand up in the court of law.

He first heard Art Bell's late night radio show while staying up to study for an organic chemistry class. He passed that course in 1993. Thanks for the help Art! Office automation became more prominent in the Agency's offices and James had worked with computers as a hobby. Soon he found himself taking care of the small computer glitches around the offices and eventually helping to plan the new computer network. Eventually he assumed the responsibility as the network administrator, responsible for the 50+ computers in the small, regional office. As the network became a more critical part of the day-to-day operations of the Agency's office, his position was officially changed to Computer Specialist and given a promotion. James then started pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems at Regis University in Denver. The office was relocated to Fort Lewis, WA in 1999 because of the closure of Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. James resigned from his position after aiding in the design and configuration of the new network and supervising the successful migration of the original network's resources, data and functions to the new system. James then pursued certifications useful in the computer industry. He is now a Microsoft Certified Professional (NT 4.0) + Internet (MCP+I) and Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE). James moved to Studio City, California in April 2000 to be able to devote more time to the investigation of the Rod phenomena.

UFOlogy Biography:

At 14 years of age, James' life was changed when he witnessed an unidentified flying object in August 1975 at his home in Dickinson, Texas. He shared the experience with a friend, Grady Tillison, and his mother, Gertrud. The sighting started in the evening just before sunset and lasted over 20 minutes through twilight and into darkness. The long length of the sighting, the unusual object's aerobatics, the other witnesses' observations plus the careful examination of the object through binoculars all combined to verify that the object was no known conventional aircraft. His father, William H. Peters, was an engineer at NASA and as a kid, James had a strong interest in anything that flew. I was quite familiar with the high performance aircraft that often flew overhead due to our proximity to Ellington Air Force Base, my interest in the aerospace industry and the friendship of astronaut C. C. Williams, a neighbor and close friend of our family.

Knowing that the UFO phenomena were real, James started reading up on the subject matter. Always having a curiosity about them, it wasn't until he left the Army and moved back to Colorado that he started looking more deeply into UFO reports. Through the Internet, James met Michael Curta, who was a member of Colorado MUFON. Their friendship led to him joining MUFON and eventually becoming a field investigator and then Assistant State Director, a position he held until moving to California. James met Jose Escamilla while in that capacity and when Jose moved to the same town he lived in, Lakewood, he couldn't pass up the opportunity to investigate Jose and his newly discovered phenomena, RODS!

Soon he was convinced on the reality of Rods, and began to investigate it side-by-side with Jose. About four months after learning to "see" Rods on video, he had his first personal sighting. Since then, James has taken a personal interest in keeping the research into Rods as scientific as possible with the ultimate goal of finding irrefutable proof of the existence of Rods. Moving to California has allowed him the luxury of getting the right tools together and learning new skills to take the research to the next level.
